Jazz
Students enrolled in jazz classes will receive instruction with emphasis on proper technique, rhythm, precision, coordination, and flexibility. Jazz is great for high energy kids who love musical theater and being on stage. They will learn basic dance movements and skills while gaining knowledge of dance terminology in an upbeat fun atmosphere. As in most forms of dance, technique is the foundation for all modern jazz dance movement. In particular, jazz dancers benefit from a sound working knowledge of ballet technique and, consequently, our jazz dance curriculum includes some ballet training.
Students will participate in the recital. More information about the recital can be found on the “recital information” page of our website.
What to Wear
Jazz Students need Black leather Jazz shoes (these will be worn to class and at the recital performance in June.) Students should wear either leggings, tights or jazz pants with a tank top, T-shirt or leotard.
Tap
Our Tap I class is a beginning/entry-level class which meets once-weekly for 1 hour. Ages 8 and up. Tap shoes must be worn with comfortable clothing.
