Pre-School – Kindergarten ages with 2 years dance experience.
1st grade & up, no previous experience necessary.
Jazz is a 45 minute class for Pre-school – Kindergarten students who have had 2 years of dance experience or 1 hour for 1st grade and up. Students enrolled in the Jazz Class will receive instruction with emphasis on proper technique, rhythm, precision, coordination, and flexibility. They will learn basic dance movements and skills while gaining knowledge of dance terminology in an upbeat fun atmosphere. A classical ballet & jazz syllabus is used. As in most forms of dance, technique is the foundation for all modern jazz dance movement. In particular, jazz dancers benefit from a sound working knowledge of ballet technique and, consequently, our jazz dance curriculum includes some ballet training. Students will begin with a warm up, learn skills and technique in the center, across the floor and finish class by working on a routine or short combination.
Students will participate in the recital. More information about the recital can be found on the “recital information” page of our website.
